TV Review: Atlantis 4

Atlantis, BBC, Drama, TV, The Earth Bull,I’m openly admitting right here and now that I’m losing faith in this programme… no matter how much I loved Merlin for its pantomime adorableness I just can’t bring myself to love this.

Atlantis – episode four – Twist of Fate

*mild spoilers alert*

This time, poor old Jason and gang get lumbered with a baby. Whilst out in the woods hunting, the trio stumble across an abandoned baby and decide to take it in. But what they don’t realise is the importance of the child… or who the dad is.

Jason, Pythagoras and Hercules find themselves in a game of cat-and-mouse as they try to protect the baby (with the help of Medusa) and get it out of the city.

Where do I begin? With the rolls upon rolls of men-can’t-look-after-a-baby jokes, the state-the-obvious, awkward dialogue, or the cringey non-romance between Hercules and Medusa?

I bordered on giving up entirely. The only thing that might redeem the series so far is the suggestion of a rather entertaining drinking game:

  • Drink once whenever Jason appears without his top on
  • Drink again when Jason jumps off the object of the week (bull, roof etc.)
  • Drink three slurps for a triangle joke or mention of Hercules’ heroism (and a bonus if they are in the same scene)

… You’ll be drunk before you know it and suddenly Atlantis is looking a whole lot more entertaining!

How did you feel about episode four? Is it going to take a bottle of wine to survive the next episode?
