Top 5 Halloween Snacks

Have I mentioned how much I love Halloween yet? I love Halloween.

Halloween is one of my all-time favourite holidays. What’s not to love!? It’s an opportunity to dress up as scary as possible (or as your favourite superhero, whichever floats your boat) without judgement, eat as much junk food as humanly possible, and scare yourself witless!

Over the next few days House of Blog going to be running some “top 5” posts to help you survive the Halloween holiday. First up: snacks.

The best thing to do on Halloween is to host your own Halloween party – nowhere really gets it right and you’ll spend the night surrounded by strangers dressed as “sexy ghosts” or a tiger onesie.

So host your own party and make sure you get Halloween right. Which is why you need some pretty brilliant snacks (a house party isn’t complete without snacks, and you know it).

1.       Toffee apples

The traditional Halloween treat, these are really simple to make. Try a Snow White twist with the Country Living Decadently Dark candy apples (they have a huge range of different recipes for candy apples and other Halloween treats)

2.      A Handful of Hummus

Dead simple – a bowlful of hummus, and stick five “fingers” of carrots out the top (add hummus fingernails for extra effect). For other finger-themed snacks, try witches finger cookies.

3.      Spider biscuits

If you want something more elaborate, try the Food Network’s caramel-pecan spiders (they have a huge range of recipes, from sweet and savoury snacks, to dinner party ideas, to cocktails).

4.      Mummified sausages

Wrap your sausages in pastry to create mummified cocktail sausages (mummy dogs), and for extra effect, give them mustard dots for eyes!

5.      Graveyard pudding pots

These are my absolute favourite! I desperately want these at a Halloween party – dark chocolate graveyard pots de crème with tombstone cookies. But then I go for anything with chocolate.

What are you doing for Halloween?
