Cocktail Bar: Afterglow
Overdone it over Christmas and New Year? Thought so. Many people, some of this household included (not me!), go alcohol-free for January. Loads of charities are encouraging a dry January, including Cancer Research’s Dryathlon.
So for the entirety of January, Cocktail Bar is going to be offering up some tasty mocktails.
Don’t worry, for those of you still wanting to try a bit of tipple, at the end of each post I will let you know what you need to do to make it a cocktail again…
I’m starting with a pretty easy one, an Afterglow, because most of us probably haven’t gone shopping yet and the cupboards are bare. Hopefully you should still have these ingredients lying around…
You will need:
- “Unusually” shaped glass (if in doubt, use a tumbler)
- 15ml grenadine
- 60ml orange juice
- 60ml pineapple juice
How to make it:
Simply add all the ingredients together over ice, stir and serve. The joy of mocktails is that there is nothing fancy about them. This is a sweet drink that reminds me of Summer days on a sandy beach.
Add the alcohol:
Use a white rum for a truly tropical cocktail; you’ll only need a splash (probably about 15ml). Pour it over the ice before adding the other ingredients.
