Time for the Boys
Yesterday saw in the fourth London Collections: Men season, with an explosion of colour and some extra-fancy men’s scarves.
The three day event showcases the best of the boys from top British designers (with perhaps hints of what’s to come in February’s women’s Fashion Week). It was launched on Sunday night with a suitably glamorous party from Dolce & Gabbana with Kylie Minogue, and continued with a dinner party last night with Mulberry, Tommy Hilfiger and Jonathan Newhouse – Condé Nast International’s chairman and chief executive.
Shows come from Burberry, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Agi & Sam (winner of British Fashion Awards’ 2013 Emerging Designer), Man, Fashion East, JW Anderson, E Tautz, Hardy Amies and Jonathan Saunders, plus many, many more.
Expect Savile Row tailoring, bold colours, and chunky knits. Men’s fashion is becoming increasingly relevant – and rightly so – and LC:M is proof of this. Rounding up the best and brightest fashion minds in Britain, this is a stage for the more-overlooked male side of style. With advocates including Nick Grimshaw, David Gandy and Tinie Tempah, and the likes of Harry Styles gracing the front row, this is a place To Be Seen. Now in its fourth year, the shows are going from strength to strength, and warrant more and more column inches; though not on the scale of February or September, the fashionable eyes are alighting on London for these three days, and it’s making them think… time for the boys to take centre stage.
