Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs

Whatever you think of Miley Cyrus (I’m not the hugest fan if I’m honest), she really is everywhere at the moment – mostly for mad and bad reasons. But the news that she is the new face of Marc Jacobs definitely caught my attention.

She has previously appeared in the ‘Protect the Skin You’re In’ T-shirt campaign for the brand, and is a friend of both the designer and his business partner, Robert Duffy, so it’s not overly surprising that she is back again.

This moody Spring campaign is not completely based on his collection, instead, he told WWD: “We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark.”

But Jacobs’ love of Cyrus doesn’t extend to his normal photographer, Jeurgen Teller. Instead, the campaign was shot by David Sims (the same guy who shot the Marc Jacobs beauty campaign). The whole thing is set on a beach in LA, with models Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds in the background, whilst Cyrus looks distant in the foreground in a navy and black jacket and deep red skirt.

“We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything… There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.”
