Dead Ringer For Love

(Aka Turkey & Cranberry Meatloaf)

I apologise in advance for all the terrible Meatloaf related one-liners that will awkwardly litter this post but For Crying Out Loud, how could I resist?

This is possibly my favourite recipe I have made for Fussy Eater’s Fight Club so far, this time from a recipe book called My Daddy Cooks by Nick Coffer which I am trying to cook every single recipe from before 8th April as part of a 101 things in 1001 days challenge. (Having so far made 71 of the recipes I can strongly recommend it as a recipe book – there have only been about 4 that haven’t been awesome and only one we hated.)

The recipe is a super simple Turkey and Cranberry Meatloaf, which was easy to cook, filling, tasty and a hit all round! The most surprising thing for me was that I liked it – I don’t rate turkey or cranberry (I’m usually grumpy round Christmas…) – but this was divine, Paradise By The Dashboard Light.

Simply a case of filling a lined loaf tin with minced turkey, dried cranberries, chopped onion, sage and onion stuffing mix, two eggs and a splash of milk, glazing the top of it with melted cranberry sauce and throwing it in the oven, it is perfect for a busy mid-week dinner when with Everything Louder Than Everything Else you just want something simple and easy to make.

It turned out and sliced beautifully, we ate it with mashed sweet potato (biggest sweet potato in the world, one fed all of us with a big left over!) and some peas and sweetcorn but it would go with pretty much any veg combination you fancied or even just mash alone.

Tori ate it, Arthur ate it, I ate it, Caius ate it. It seems such a long time since that happened properly and I think that made it taste even better – Heaven Can Wait, I’ve discovered peace on Earth at last.

I will tell you something else as well, it makes THE BEST sandwiches cold the next day and goes well with salad too. It’s All Coming Back To Me Now how it was a sad, sad moment when we ran out and had to have something else for lunch instead.

Until next time, good luck with your fussy eaters and remember:

A Kiss is A Terrible Thing To Waste and I Would Do Anything For Love But I… sorry, I’ll stop now.

Ahem, remember:

The first rule of Fussy Eaters Fight Club is SHARE EVERYTHING THAT WORKS!
