Cocktail Bar: Amaretto Sour

Friday 16 May 2014 by

This week is something dead easy. You don’t really need to think about the amaretto sour when you’re making it – it pretty much does what it says on the tin.

Amaretto, Disaronno, Alcohol, Cocktail

You will need:

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Ice
  • Old-fashioned glass
  • Maraschino cherry or orange slice to garnish

  • 50ml amaretto
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • 1 tsp of sugar (optional)

How to make it:

My favourite way to make it is to rim the glass with sugar. Rub the edge of the old-fashioned glass with lemon juice and dip it in granulated sugar. Then, in a cocktail shaker, mix the amaretto and lemon juice. Add the ice to the glass and strain your drink over the top. If you want to garnish, a maraschino cherry or orange slice is best. Sit back, feet up, and enjoy. It’s best drunk in front of a roaring fire, or during a cool evening after a barbecue. Either way, it’s delicious and warming. As a fan of amaretto full stop, this is a perfect finish to the day. Follow the link above, and there is an alternative choice – try mixing the sugar in with the drink as sugar syrup for an even easier cocktail!

(You’ll have to excuse the slight cloudiness of my cocktail – the strainer didn’t work! Still yummy though)
