Apple Bobbing, Cocktail, Alcohol, Halloween

With the run up to Halloween, things are getting scary in this house… people are starting to invent their own cocktails. With an evening emptying the drinks cabinet and throwing booze and mixer around, we eventually (tipsily) came up with this Halloween themed treat… the Apple Bobbing cocktail. There are a few apple bobbing offerings out there – from the Bobbing for Apples to the Apple Bobber – but most involve cider. If you’re like me, and rarely have apple cider around, but want to throw some standard ingredients in and find that you still get a great tasting cocktail, you’re going to enjoy this one.

You will need:

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Teaspoon
  • Martini glass
  • Slices of apple to garnish
  • Ice

  • 75ml freshly squeezed cloudy apple juice
  • 25ml sweet vermouth
  • 50ml vodka
  • 75ml ginger ale

How to make it:

Pour the apple juice and ginger ale in to the bottom of your martini glass, and drop in the apple slices. In your cocktail shaker, shake up your vermouth and vodka with ice. Then, using the back of the spoon, pour the alcohol in to the martini glass. By using the back of the spoon, you will be able to keep the two layers separate in the glass, creating that double-layered look of a bowl of apples in water. Enjoy responsibly (which we did not – it was enjoyed very irresponsibly).
