Beauty Review: L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

L'Oreal Elvive, Hair oil, Haircare, Beauty, L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary OilManaging my hair has always been somewhat of a challenge. Although it is fine there is a lot of it so while body isn’t an issue I do struggle with tangles and keeping it looking sleek and styled, any sort of cold, damp weather can leave my hair frizzy, untamed and a little dead looking. Sometimes the weather doesn’t even have to factor in, at times my hair just won’t hold a style.

I have found hairsprays that do a reasonable job for an evening out but I have found that they often leave my hair feeling weighed down and looking very much like there’s product there. While I can tolerate this for an evening out I really don’t like to do it for the day to day as I’m not always happy with the finished look. So when I saw an ad in a magazine for L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil that had a free sample I thought I may as well give it a go as it promised such good results. In the first instance I was a little put off by the word oil as it immediately gave me images of greasy looking hair, but I figured there’s no harm in giving a free sample a try.

On using the product I saw immediate results. The oil is light and melts beautifully into the hair without leaving a heavy feeling of product. It smoothes stray hairs and flyaway ends whilst retaining natural movement and the soft feeling of untouched hair. It also goes a long way, I find that a pea sized amount (probably the amount you get with one pump action) is enough to work through and manage all of my hair which is very thick and is cut to just past my shoulder blades. It holds my style all day and leaves my hair feeling wonderfully soft and shiny, it’s almost like having a bottled hairdresser and can completely makeover your hair in seconds. I’ve found that it has been of particular benefit on days when I don’t want to straighten my hair, just accentuate the natural waves.

The product also has the benefit of multiple uses; style finisher on dry hair or it can be used on wet hair before shampooing for added nourishment before styling. I have found that with regular use this product has left my hair looking and feeling much more nourished, it’s a definite must have. It retails for around £9.99 for a 100ml bottle, one of which lasted me around a year. Since its launch in 2013, the range has expanded to include variants for coloured hair, and fine hair as well as shampoo, conditioner and a mask.

A definite 5 stars.
