Top 5 Songs to De-Stress To

Dance, Music, Feel good, Stress, Dance like no one is watching

Let’s face it, life can get awfully stressful sometimes; whether it be work, uni, family, friends or just the world in general. Sometimes we all just need to sing out as loud as we can and dance like no one’s watching, and as if we wouldn’t care even if they were.

1. Gives You Hell by The All-American Rejects

This is a great one to belt out when you just don’t care anymore. Dancing around to it when someone’s screwed you over can’t help but make you feel a bit better and aid your venting. Snide and triumphant all at once, it’s nothing but fun to ease your frustration to.

2. Shake It Out by Florence and the Machine

There’s something rather uplifting about this one. For me, it feels rather like it says that no matter what life throws at you or how much you feel you may have screwed up you can get through it, make a change and put the past behind you. You almost can’t help but feel a sense of peace after a good old sing-along.

3. Walk by Foo Fighters

I think we’ve all been there, had a day when the world in general just makes us despair, and the song’s video (a great homage to the classic “Falling Down”) sums it up fantastically. Sometimes people are just the worst. As with most Foo Fighters tracks it builds fantastically until you can’t help but belt it out. It’s almost impossible not to feel great dancing to this in a screw-it-all manner.

4. Train in Vain by The Clash

Dancing to this song has never failed to make me feel better, no matter what the problem is. Like so many great punk songs the music is really cheery while the lyrics are angry and that’s what makes it so great to de-stress to. You can vent your frustration through the lyrics whilst brightening your mood through dancing to the upbeat tune. It’s damn near perfect.

5. Your Favourite Song

Because what’s better than singing and dancing to the song you love above all others?

Nerissa is a writer, mummy and rather proud geek living in the countryside. In between playtime, cuddles and fun times she loves to read, knit, bake and write Young Adult and children’s fiction.
