Cocktail Bar: Tea Julep

Friday 10 April 2015 by

I was inspired to try my own twist on a cocktail this week – taking this delicious tea julep and mixing up the flavours. Considering it works so well, I might be trying other flavours all weekend!

Tea julep, Cocktail, Cognac, Alcohol, Tea

You will need:

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Martini glass

Ingredients:

  • 50ml cognac
  • 1 fruit-flavoured teabag (I used mango and strawberry)
  • 2 tbsp vanilla syrup

How to make it:

Put all the ingredients, including the teabag, in the cocktail shaker and give it a gentle stir. Slowly fill with ice, then gently stir again. Strain and serve chilled in the martini glass. The original recipe calls for a peach and mango teabag, and garnish with mint, but any fruit tea works. Simply pick one with a bit of sweetness to it to offset the cognac and you’re away! Strictly for cognac lovers though – it’s a strong taste.
