Marathon Series: Pre-Run Fuel

Welcome back to week twenty of my Marathon Series, as I blog my way to a marathon – from beginner to 26.2 miles. This week, we’re talking about the perfect pre-run fuel.

There’s nothing more important for a good run than the perfect meal beforehand. Your body needs the right kind of energy to get your legs moving. So here are three perfect meals to eat pre-run…

Pasta

To be honest it doesn’t even matter what kind of pasta dish you pick. But the night before a big race, carb-load like mad, and there is nothing quite like pasta to achieve that. My favourite is a super-indulgent mac and cheese.

Porridge

Porridge is the perfect slow-burn breakfast. Full of the perfect nutrients to get you going, and the variety of toppings is endless. There’s even a porridge café in London to fulfil all your porridge needs.

Banana

It’s an obvious one but banana is packed full of essential vitamins and minerals to spur you on. Even better try my favourite – toasted English muffin with crunchy peanut butter and sliced banana. Delicious!
