Smoothie week has to be my favourite week. I love them – and discovering new recipes each time is a new thrill. This week, I thought I would boost my immune system with the rather delicious ginger banana smoothie.

You will need:

  • Blender
  • Tall glass
  • Grater

Ingredients:

  • 1 large banana
  • 6 large tablespoons of vanilla yoghurt
  • 1 thumbnail-sized piece of grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp honey

How to make it:

Grate the ginger, add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. This recipe promises to soothe heartburn and nausea, aid digestion, and – of course – give your immune system a helping hand. The sweetness of the honey and yoghurt is tempered by the heat from the ginger, and the banana gives it depth. The basis of most smoothies happens to be banana, of course, and this one is no different. But the flavours are rich and unique. The perfect smoothie for the changing season.
