5 Netflix Shows to Watch Right Now

Tuesday 29 August 2017 by

Over the past few months, I’ve been indulging in Netflix hard. It might have slipped down the popularity scale against the likes of Amazon Prime, but it still promises great drama and great TV. Here are my top five shows you should be watching…

Orphan Black, Netflix, TV

Orphan Black

Grab a bit of sci-fi for your weekend – there are five seasons of Orphan Black to watch and all of them are excellent. Tatiana Maslany plays a number of clones as they battle together and against one another in one huge conspiracy. Watch it for the incredible acting and perfectly balanced humour.

Marvel, The Defenders, Netflix, TV

Marvel’s The Defenders

The latest in a long string of Marvel/Netflix shows, The Defenders improves on the shaky Iron Fist of before with heart-pounding drama, whip-smart dialogue and beautifully shot cinematography. Old favourites come together to battle The Hand, and try to save New York.

Sense8, TV, Netflix

Heartbreakingly, Sense8 has been cancelled. This all-inclusive show about a group of people who are psychically linked has been one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Incredible setting, intense and complex drama, it really does have it all, and I dare you not to fall in love.

Making a Murderer, Netflix, TV, Documentary

Making a Murderer

Described to me as the TV version of Serial, Making a Murderer caused waves when it first arrived. This tense and fascinating story of a real-life murder will make you think, and talk about it for a long time to come. The story of Steven Avery is not over yet.

The Thick of It, BBC, Netflix, TV

The Thick of It

If you haven’t watched The Thick of It, where have you been? Netflix has all four series available now and it is a timeless classic of British comedy. Peter Capaldi as the obnoxious and sweary Malcolm Tucker will keep you entertained for hours.

What is your favourite show to binge right now?
