The Fitness Challenge 1

Running, Cornwall, Clay pits

I’ve got the fitness blues. There’s no way to get around it. No matter what I try or how I try to mix things up, I just can’t find my groove. With a big year fitness-wise next year, I need to get it back, and fast. Which is why I have decided to start setting myself challenges.

Challenging myself to a series of fitness-related tasks, with the promise of a prize at the end of it, I can rediscover that sense of competition that got me through so many half marathons and a marathon. It doesn’t matter what my current end goal is, I just need to find the stepping stones to get there.

Challenge #1

Run every day for 4 weeks

I’m not normally an every day runner. Every other day at most. Mainly because when I was running regularly, the distances I was covering more than made up for it. But now I’m barely getting out for a 5km run and it’s starting to show. As of today, however, I will be running every day for 4 weeks. That takes me to the 8th October and I hope by then that I will have found some of that running mojo.

Each challenge is going to take on a different side to my fitness. The idea is to kickstart my mojo again. Who knows – by Christmas I should be back to my normal ways and boring everyone to death with tales of my Fitness Journey. But with three challenges between now and the end of the year, I’ve got a long way to go.

The challenges

#1 Run every day for 4 weeks

#2 Go to the gym three times a week for 4 weeks

#3 Do yoga every day for 4 weeks

I’ll be detailing my journey on social media with the hashtag #HoBchallenge so follow along on Twitter and Instagram, and let me know if you’re joining in, or if you are setting yourself your own fitness challenge!
